In Case of an Emergency
Keep emergency phone numbers easily accessible and be sure that any pet-sitters or boarding facilities have your pet's emergency information. There are a variety of options available for emergency services and our doctors may be able to help you to determine which of these would be best for you and your pet.
Although we do have a doctor available until 10pm we do not have a full staff available for advanced surgical cases or intensive 24 hour care after hours. If your pet requires this level of care you may be referred to one of the area's full service emergency clinics so that you and your pet can receive the best possible care. There is a small animal emergency clinic (VESH) in South Deerfield, MA that we often utilize. We may also suggest referral for exotic patients such as pet birds or reptiles requiring emergency care as they often require specialized care and treatment.
Equine patients may be seen on the farm by a veterinarian on call. Because we have one doctor on call to serve all of our patients, horse owners outside of our usual service area may be asked to bring the horse to our clinic for treatment. It is always a good idea to have a transportation plan available for your horse in case of emergency. For severe equine emergencies such as surgical colics, you may need to transport your horse to an emergency equine facility. Following these guidelines will allow us to provide quality emergency services you and your pets.
